Luggage Lives On, by Beau

March 24, 2011

Gone are the times when women would travel not with their Tumi luggage but with their courier trunks, wardrobes and fantastic hatboxes. Those were the days when women would board the Queen Elizabeth to travel across the Atlantic armed with nothing but their Louis Vuitton, Goyard and a sense of adventure.

Sadly, we now simply settle for being squeezed in to a coach seat with our poor Speedy bag jammed underneath the seat in front of us. But not to fear, even though the romance of travel has faded with the steam ships it does not mean we can’t enjoy these magnificent pieces in our homes. With a bit of hunting in your favorite antique stores and a little bit of creativity, there are so many ways to bring vintage luggage in to your home and give it the respect it deserves. Here are some of my favorites.

Nothing like waking up and going to sleep with some beautiful Louis at your bedside.

So much cooler than having a little table at the end of your hall.

A great look if you happen to have a cottage in the English country side.

Vintage Goyard + lucite = Oh so cool!

Even though this picture is not in a room, it is often in my dreams.

Totally digging the different sizes colors and total creativity of this.

Had to save the best for last.
