Light Up Your Life! by Beau

March 22, 2011

One of my favorite things when walking into a friend’s home is to be greeted not only with a hug and a fantastic cocktail but also to be greeted with the beautiful light beaming from a magnificent chandelier.

Having many recent encounters with these beautiful fixtures I have loved seeing them in not just your typical foyer and dining room but also in kitchens, bathrooms and all the rooms in between. They truly define a space in a way very little decorative pieces can.

The history of the chandelier is as simple as the meaning of the word. Meaning candle holder, the original chandelier was usually just a simple wood cross holding four or more candles. Well luckily we are not in the 16th century anymore and artisans have become far more creative with these electrical sculptures. From ornate crystal chandeliers to simple wrought iron ones, here are a few that I have just fallen in love with and the way they were used to truly make the space they are in unique.

A Jonathan Adler design. Awesome, of course!

This chandelier could go in any room, but certainly looks great in its current home.

Not sure who designed this room but am LOVING the freshness of it and it's fab chandelier!

Really like the simplicity of the bathroom with the over the top chandelier

  1. I love that you included J Lo's house in Veranda after we just discussed it a few days ago :) I still don't think she really lives there!
